The Watchmaker's Bench: Preview
A downloadable game
One watch. One complete repair.
The Watchmaker's Bench is a hands-on mechanical watch repair game about figuring out what is actually wrong before taking a watch apart.
This is an early playable preview built around a single repair job. You receive a customer's watch, inspect it, wind and listen to it, take baseline measurements, open the case, diagnose the faults, service only what needs attention, reassemble and regulate the movement, then return the finished watch to its owner.
There are no abstract repair buttons. Screwdriver fit matters. Parts need to be seated correctly. Lubrication depends on the service information available at the bench. The timing machine shows the result of the movement you actually repaired.
What this preview contains
One complete watch-repair job from intake to hand-back, including inspection, disassembly, cleaning and lubrication, part replacement, reassembly, regulation, testing, and the final workshop report.
The preview is intentionally limited to one watch. Career progression, additional calibres, more complicated watches, suppliers, equipment upgrades and further customer jobs are being developed for the full game.
The workshop manual is available when you need it, but the game generally expects you to observe the watch, use the tools and decide what to do rather than following a fixed sequence of instructions.
About the build
This is an early preview, not the final demo or full release.
Some visuals, sounds, controls and balancing may still change. The purpose of this build is to find out whether the actual process of diagnosing and repairing a watch is satisfying, understandable, and worth expanding into a larger game.
The current build supports English and Korean.
Feedback
Played the preview? I’d love to hear where you got stuck, what felt satisfying, and what you’d want from more watches
If you play it, I'd especially like to know:
- Where, if anywhere, did you get stuck?
- Which part of the repair felt the most satisfying?
- Which part felt tedious or unclear?
- Would you want to repair more watches in a full game?
You can leave feedback in the itch.io comments.
Thanks for trying the preview.

If you leave feedback, I’m especially interested in where you got stuck, what part of the repair felt satisfying, and anything that felt tedious or unclear.
